Immersive Pilates Workshops, Straight to Your Studio

STOTT PILATES®

A Scientifically Supported Methodology

Serious students require a well rounded training regimen.

As a professional dancer, I was forced to learn the hard way-- by getting injured in rehearsal and performance. Luckily, today’s parents and students have greater awareness about the benefits of Pilates, and they expect elite programs to offer these resources.

STOTT PILATES® was developed by Lindsay and Moira Merrithew alongside a team physical therapists, and is consistently updated according to the latest research in biomechanics. The STOTT PILATES® Biomechanical Principles are the foundation to my dancer-specific workshops.

For studio owners, fewer injuries mean greater student progress, satisfaction, and retention.

The Elite Dancer Workshop Series

  • Alignment Foundations

Learn to recruit your transversus abdominus, obliques, and glutes correctly to maintain lumbopelvic stability throughout the full range of hip extension required for ballet.

    • Prevents lumbar injury

    • Reduces hip flexor “gripping”

    • Increases healthy hip turnout and range of motion in extension

  • Resilience en Pointe

Proper alignment standing translates to excellence en pointe. We will start on the mat and progress to barre exercises.

    • Improve ankle-foot alignment

    • Strengthen targeted ankle stabilizers and intrinsic foot musculature

    • Understand how pelvis placement affects the foot via the kinetic chain

  • Core Activation

Learn to harness the principle of breath to activate the transversus abdominus, which acts as a corset around the spine, protecting it from the risks of hyper mobility.

    • Enhances coordination and power in jumps

    • Aids lumbopelvic stability

    • Reinforces mind-body connection

  • Effortless Port de Bras

Learn how to protect the most hyper mobile joint in the body- the glenohumeral joint- by finding and strengthening the neutral position of the scapula.

    • Reduces scapular “winging”

    • Increases strength of the port de bras

    • Un-trains negative habits of “shoving down” shoulder blades, increasing freedom in the shoulders

  • Expanding the Breath

Dancers often have flat thoracic spines, limiting the potential for oxygen exchange, and often causing rib flare. Learn how to restore the natural thoracic curve to enhance performance.

    • Increases core alignment, reducing rib flare

    • Expands breath, reducing shallow “chest breathing” especially in allegro

How the Workshop Series Works

  • Each workshop is 90 minutes, and the series of 5 is designed to be spread over 5 days or 5 weeks, depending on your studio’s availability. You can schedule the entire series or just one to start — completely up to you!

  • Follow up group sessions are also available in order to reinforce and practice the principles.

  • The workshops take place at your studio, but if you’re located outside of the greater Seattle area, I am happy to travel to you and conduct a 5-day intensive program. Please contact me for options.

  • Dancers must be 10 and up to participate.

  • Studio will need to supply for each student: a mat, small squishy ball, theraband, and a hand towel. Please contact me if you need assistance with procuring the necessary materials.
